Default Decided to upgrade my 4th Gen (long post)

Some of you may or may not recall my introduction thread on this board, but I was debating on getting a 5th Gen or upgrading my 4th Gen. Well, I've decided to upgrade my 4th Gen. 5th Gen is too much bloat and the 4th Gen is much lighter and paid off.

With that said, I'm planning my mod route. I have some BMR weld on subframe connectors. I'm in the process of getting the bolts (lost them in a move) and finding a shop to weld them on.

My next plan is to get some better rotors and pads and redo my brake system. Going to keep the same calipers and put some steel braided lines on.

After that, I'm still in limbo. I would start upgrading my exhaust (already have SLP airlid with K&N filter) but I'm not sure what state I will be in when I retire from the military or where my next job will be located. So I'm going to hold off until I can find a place that will "go easy" on inspections.

So until then, I think I will do the routine maintenance on my car and upgrade where I can. For example, getting a better rear end and upgrading the suspension. I do know that I want a suspension package that will make me handle better.

I don't plan to autocross but I do want a real good street car. I don't plan to drag race (much). I want better handling as I think that will apply better to an every day car (like if I have to swerve to dodge something or avoid an accident somehow, that sort of thing).

Any advice would be appreciated. The engine will wait until I have everything else ready for it to handle whatever power I add to it. Thoughts?

Well the suspension is always a good safe place to start. This site has UMI as its supporting sponsor and thats all I have used with excellant results. Start off with some LCAs and panhard bar, than just keep going with a-arms up front and tourqe arm and maybe sway bars as well. If you are serious about handling you can upgrade the k member that shaves around 30lbs off the front end. A good set of lowering springs and maybe a set of koni adjustables for shocks and the suspension will be set up for whatever you are going to throw at it.

If you arent sure about what state you will be in and still want power just get a set of emissions equipped headers and high flow cats. With a good tune you should have no problem making more power and passing the sniffer.

Suspension for sure and the SFC made night and day difference in my car. Dumping the 10 bolt is the next step. Then work your way forward.
