Default Auto trans service time

Well, tomorrow's going to be a "fun" day. Not only do I get to change out the transmission fluid, but I'll be replacing the filter and pan gasket along with it. Unfortunately, I also have to replace the oil pan gasket as well, and that's AFTER I had the oild changed today. So, I guess one thing at a time. I surely hope that it isn't going to be a scorcher tomorrow, because I know I'll be sweating buckets anyway. Okay, rant's over.

Anyone have any suggestions on where I should start first? I'd like to have some sort of battle plan so I won't be spending a good ten minutes figuring out where I should start. Also, I will be replacing the transmission fluid, but I will be reusing the oil as it is still very much brand new. One other thing: I couldn't help but notice that when I really get down on the gas while driving, the car rather tends to shift into neutral than into the next gear. Now I'm pretty new to this particular car as my old 94 never did that unless the transmission had problems, but I would like to know if this happens to be typical, or if there is a problem with the transmission. Any help would be appreciative. Thank you.

If the trans acts like its in neutral when shifting gears that means its slipping. I would check the fluid level and make sure its right but it sounds like you might have bigger problems.

ya your tranny should not feel like it's in neutral when it's in gear... your converter might be on it's last legs. also far as tackling everything just drain the oil first and then drain the tranny while that's draining and by the time the tranny is near complete you'll be ready to pop the pan off.

a reminder is that you may have to unbolt the K-member on one side to be able to pull the pan out as it's a tight squeeze and might need some leverage

Update:

I won't be able to change out the gasket for the oil pan after all. I would have to lift the engine up just to get it out, and I don't have the tools necessary for such a task. Also, I was told by my father that I should just wait until it's time for my next oil change to have it fixed, because of him saying that reusing even brand new oil is a bad idea. Well, it doesn't really matter now because I'll have to take the car to a shop to get that done. As far the transmission goes, I cleaned the pan off to hopefully see where the leaks are coming from exactly, and I will be able to replace the gasket on it nevertheless. After we change out the fluid and the filter as well, I'll eventually get to see if it solves the slipping issue.
