Dear LORD grant me a shifter ball...!!!
Ok, OK... I'm learning here... Somebody help me out please??? I've got a newly acquired 1997 Z28 with the 6-speed. It is all stock including the GRAPEFRUIT SIZED leather covered shifter ball. My gawd, it feels like I'm palming a friggin' basketball to shift! So, anyway, this 'ball' is like 2.1 or 2.2 in. in diameter and has the 16mm threads, can anyone tell me where I can find a smaller (like 1.75 or 1.50 in. diameter) WHITE round shifter ball...??? I don't need the 6-speed pattern on it, I don't need HURST written on it, it can be just a plain white ball... or not. Before I scrap it and start trying to build my own... HELLLLLLP! I feel so inferior shifting this car! Thanks...

unfortunately to say most will be within that range for diameter... i did a search and couldn't exactly find anything all white but I've seen them and know they're out there. could only find white ones with the shift pattern on it.

Well, I'm talking with EPCO that builds some, I'm waiting to see if they may just have this combination available... If they DO, I'm buying one and I can then feel like a MAN again.

you can get the hurst leather shift knob. it's not a white ball or anything, but it's real comfortable. same one I have in my Firehawk..

they also have the white one you're looking for for $37:

i think that most of the problem that you are having with uncomfortableness with that stock shifter is how ungodly long it is. I've drove a 6 speed car with that shifter and it feels like driving a truck, LOL. you need to focus on getting a short throw shifter, and believe me that will make all the difference in the world

the thing is that having a longer shifter stick is a benefit but it defeats the thowing action if there's no weight to swing momentum. the short throw kind of helps this process since it's obviously a shorter distance for the hand. it's a different feeling though for sure when the stick is shorter to make it feel like a shifter kart

that's an awesome idea as I'm sure the extra weight helps each throw, would sure be different drilling into a pool ball though. no 8 ball?

Link above is for a 2-1/4" diameter knob. Big, prob same you currently have.
Hurst sells the one that comes with the Billet shifter. It's smaller, 1-3/4" diameter...

Not 100% sure it will fit the stock stick though. Like mentioned, If I were you I'd get an aftermarket shifter... Hurst Billet... Pro 5.0. You wont be disappointed.
