i have a 2000 firebird v6 auto looking to get more out of it i was told to put new gears in the rearend any suggestions to what gear ratio to go with

I wouldn't go any higher than 3:73's if you're doing daily street driving, not untill you at least get a converter. you should look into that first

what gear do you have now??

GU2=2.73- v8 only
GU4=3.08- open differential(means no lsd)
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42

i coulndteven guess whats in it now how would i go about finding out

You should have one of these RPO codes inside your drivers door it will tell you.

i looked and i have the gu6 code so they would be 3.42
