Default Bleeding brakes/ABS

Ok, before too long, I'm going to work on my brake system. Going to get a brake rotor/pad package from a site. Nothing big, just a better regular rotor and better pads. Also going to put some steel braided lines on there while I'm at it. Maybe rebuild the calipers if need be.

I have heard that to bleed the brakes, you will need to have some hand held computer thing (found at the dealership) to cycle the ABS module and bleed them out. I plan on plugging my lines with ear plugs and keep fluid in the resevoir obviously. I just wonder if changing out the lines and installing the steel braided one will be close enough to the ABS module to let air get in there before I plug whatever opening there are.

I plan on getting one of those Motive Bleeder things to help me bleed the brakes since I may not have help when I do them. Is there anything I need to be aware of? I would really like to not utilze the dealership just to bleed out the ABS module. Thanks.

i just did the drilled/slotted rotors on mine with the stainless steel brake lines and also put in new brake fluid. we tried to bleed them out at the house but the pedal was as soft as a clutch pedal and went straight to the floor and wouldn't grab at all until it hit the floor. well luckily my dad works in the service department at the local chevolet dealership so i took it up there and they put a machine on it not some hand held thing. that machine was bad ass because now you can touch the brake pedal with your pinky toe and the brakes will grab real hard. so i wouldn't recommend doing it at the house but then again we didn't have the hand held thing your talking about. i would just take it to the dealership and let em do it because the brakes are great now after the install and the dealership bleeding.

How much line did you have to replace with the steel line? Did it go to the ABS module or was it towards the end of the system around where the calipers are?

I'm wondering how much of these lines get replaced with the steel ones. Was it the entire line between the caliper and ABS module or some of it?
