guys, drilled rotors are just for looks, and it makes them very prone to cracking. the slots however are functional, and don't compromise the integrity of the rotor

the drilled and slotted are commonly used for reducing heat but have a side effect of reducing surface area. for daily driving drilled/slotted rotors are a nice appeal but for track, heavy breaking the more surface area the better

did just read up on the cross drilled and slotted rotor, statement said that the cross drilling with not be detrimental to rotor life if for street use. I am planning on using them for the street for a little while so are they my best bet?

i have drilled and slotted rotors on mine, the ones you get for $169 for the set from WS6Store. they lasted about 2 years/8k miles, which isn't a lot, but i do drive the car like i stole it.
and to be honest, i'll get the drilled/slotted rotors again. it's only for looks, but i do enter the car in a lot of car shows, and i do like the look

Right now I have the WS6Store rotors, which are $169 per set
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...oducts_id=1598
for the money i spent, they have done their job for sure. they lasted 2 years before they finally cracked, and they only did that because i ordered them drilled and slotted. if i had have just gotten slotted, they would still be fine. never warped or anything, and like i said i drive the piss out of my car. blew the transmission in it a couple of weeks ago doing 150 on nitrous, LOL.
i do believe however, that i'm going to try out a different brand this time. i like getting the slots in them because it does improve greatly on the looks and i enter the car in a lot of car shows, so i'm just kind of going around trying to find some that won't crack and are relatively inexpensive. that's if there's anything like that out there, i know it's a long shot, lol

okay, so on these ws6 store rotors, they'll just replace the stock ones I have on the ride now with nothing else needed right? what about the brake pads? will I be able to just use the ones I have now, or should I get new ones as well? and lastly... calipers? what should I do about these too?

The WS6Store rotors are a direct replacement with nothing else needed. I would always recommend getting new pads when you're replacing your rotors since you're already in there, and the old pads are going to have a wear pattern consistent with how your old rotors were worn. My #1 choice for pads would be the Hawks brake pads, which I believe are also sold on WS6Store, but you can just go down to the autoparts and get some regular pads if you want.
As far as the calipers, just run the stockers

Alright got cha. Yes, I hear alot about the Hawks pads. The pads I have on now are just some I picked up from advance auto. Are you able to paint the stock calipers?

ya replace replace the pads when doing rotors as the wear patterns will lessen the life of the rotors. at any auto parts store they normally have a kit that you can buy to paint the calipers. i picked it up and painted my old camaro's calipers red.
quick pick I could find... pretty easy to do with the brake line still attached

yep. i actually took mine off the car and spray painted them, but you can do it on the car if you have the brush on kit from the auto parts
