Default explanation of how tire specs work

So theres numbers like 225/68/17 and other things like camber or offset. all that shit that i still need to learn when buying or thinking about which tires work best for whatever situation.

but ive been seeing a lot more of people talking about what offset they should get. what is an "offset" when buying wheels? whats a wheels offset?

offset is only for the wheels... there's no offset that's in your tires like the numbers you mentioned.

offset is the distance from the inner edge wheel facing to the hub area that mounts to the rotor/hub assembly

And some might get confused with this:

The inside lip of the wheel to the hub mount is the backspacing, then the edge in the middle of the wheel to the hub mount is the offset be it negative or positive.

Like for instance, factory zr1 wheels like mine have an offset of +50mm, where as the zr1 knock-offs have +36mm.
