Question firebird v6 wheel size question

hi all, I have an 02 firebird v6 with stock wheels (16x8 size), I have done a couple of things to give the car 230-240 hp. I have been told that when you add more horsepower to a car, more traction is needed (as in larger wheels), but I also notice that the formula has a 16x8 stock wheel size. I want to get some aftermarket rims for my v6, but I dont plan on doing that much more to the engine, so I was wondering if I should stick with the same 16x8 size rims or is it even worth the extra money to go with larger rims? thanks

as far as traction goes, I personally don't think you need any wider rim than what you already have on the car. You know, you can always go with a little wider than stock tire size and keep the same rims and gain a little better than stock traction.

that being said, wider rims always look better, and if you're buying new rims anyway, i kinda have a why not? attitude as far as that goes

a wider width on a wheel/tire combo will always give more straction and better handling performance wise... it's your decision on what the plans are for your vehicle to factor in a choice of what route to go

245/50/16 is a good upgrade for you stock will or aftermarket if you going with a 16.

BTW, what mods do you have done, a stock 3.8 avgs 170hp at the wheels, so you must have some serious mods to be pushing 240hp.

Keep the same 16x8 wheels and get a set of tires with a greater (better=stickier) traction rating. Additional wheel and tire width equals additional weight and rolling resistance negating your performance gains.
