Default tire size...

hey everyone... I'm in need of a new set of rear tires. the ones on there now are turning into slicks. they are 235/40.18... the reason for them being kind of small was because when i put the rims on i didn't know how big of a tire i could fit... the rims are 18X9.5.... i want something taller and wider.. anyone got any ideas on a decent size ??

it's not recommended to go much over a 275 width with 9.5 wheel... then depending on the profile your looking for and I'm assuming your wanting to go with a street tire?

you can run like a 275/35/18... Alot of tire options in that size as well

With the 275 you will go from a tire thats about 9.25in (235/40) in width to 10.82in (275/35) while still maintaing right about the same hight in tire.

I would personaly run a 285/35/18...... alittle taller to fill in the gap better

do you think i would have any rubbing problems with a 285/35???.. not that big of a deal if i do cause i have coils off of a v6... they are about 2 coils taller... might give it a good look wit the rear end in the air a little....

you won't have any rubbing issues until you muster on some 305's or 315's I would assume... although every car is different and do you have any suspension mods?

You shouldnt have any problems running a 285 35 or 40 in the back. A 275 is what most people reccomend but I did have 275 40 17s than I went to a 285 40 17 on my 10 spokes with no problem.

it's only going to go down as far as the bumbstops allow... would say leave it as it is, until the tires are shot or until you unload them

Default 96 Z28 convt

Hi --really enjoy these posts. I just bought a stock 96 Z28 --still running orig stock rims--LT1 six speed

I want to go big on tires--I have seen some coupes with the 17x9.5 275/40 front and the 17x11 315/35 rears --looks awesome--but my question is ---will these also work on Convt--I saw one maker ad saying they dont--and a different supplier says they will

Thanks for any input

yeah i'm not exactly sure but with the right backspacing and offset a 17x11 should fit. i heard that they wouldnt fit on a v6. i have the exact same set up as you want and have listed above and i have no problems at all. i drive my car daily on top of that. only thing i had to do was roll my fender lips and the only reason i had to do that was becuase my drive way is a super slant and the tire would catch in the back a little bit, so didnt want to take any chances. but no problems like i said.
