Default Got cracks in your dash pad?

I was doing some vent and radio work one day and had to remove the dash pad,...when i removed it from the car the wind took it and it hit the driveway and cracked almost all the way across. i was soooo pissed, after finding the cheapest price of over $300 to replace it,...i started thinking and came up with what i thought was a great idea. I went to the auto parts store and got some high grade epoxy, you have to work neatly and quickly. i spread the epoxy all along the cracks and held them together by hand, it dries pretty fast, let it sit 24hrs. Then fill in any blems or cracks and smooth it out the best you can, i used a dremel and lightly sanded it. then i went to a fabric store and got a couple of yds of "pleather", it was a little pricey but i looked in the "scrap and remnant bin" and picked up enough to cover it for only $20. i laid out the pleather and put the dash pad upside down and traced around with marker, about 4-5 inches from the edge of the dash pad, used a razor to cut it, the vent hole is tricky, cut around leaving enough material to push through the vent holes, take your time and work slow. then spray both the pleather and the dash pad with spray adhesive, not heavy! lay the pleather on the dash pad and smooth out. then flip it over and fold the edges over and pull tight but not too tight and glue with a hot glue gun. hope this helps it turned out so good i would recomend it even if its not cracked! its awesome!

Default

That sounds like a good fix.

When i reinforced my door panels from cracking. I first applyed epoxy and then a stip of webbing (window screen) then another layer ontop of the screen.

Total: $18.00 for the epoxy
$00.00 window screen (trash bin at local hardware store)
