Z-28 to SS Appearance Change Help
I know that I'm a long ways off from having the money to do this, but I would like to ask you gentlemen for your help. Essentially, I'm wanting to change out the hood and spoiler for their SS counterparts. At the same time, I'm contemplating on whether or not I should change the badges as well, to complete the look. Of course, I would have the performance upgraded a bit before the change. Anyway, I would like to ask you all what would be the best online body parts store to shop from. The last thing I want is to stumble onto a scam sight. And I would like to know who makes the best quality in body parts. Also, I'm planning to have the car repainted, so I'm not looking for carbon fiber parts. I'm not changing the color to match my last Z-28's appearance (medium quasar blue metallic with black racing stripes and a blue bowling ball scheme on the roof), but I will be adding blue racing stripes and another small detail to car. How exactly it would be detailed is something I have yet to decide on, but I already the perfect shop to do it. I'll be looking forward to your replies.

CHECK with ALOT of body shops. Make sure the body shop will be honest and trustworthly.
The reason I'am saying this is because some shops will give you a really low estimate, and once you sign and give them your car - that estimate is just that an estimate. The body shop will keep your car until the actual price of painting the car paid, not the estimate price.

I appreciate your concern about body shops, but I have a strong relationship with one already, and they are very honest and trustworthy. I had some damage on my last car repaired by them, and their work was very professional and commendable. I wish that I had managed to take pictures of my last car before it was totaled in my last accident. In any case, I will not have to worry about checking with different places unless I have to move more than 75 miles out of the city.

VFN make good quality fiberglass hoods. Altho i do not see a 98-02 SS style hood, but plenty of others
http://vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm
6Litereater Designs sales High Quality parts and offers a Carbon Fiber SS Hood
http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...sort=2a&page=2
Of course carbon and fiberglass hoods can be found on Ebay for cheaper, but who knows what quality and fitment they will be. Another thing to look at is, if you get fiberglass hood, Dont get the cheapest one. Some are made with such crappy craftsmanship, that body shops will refuse to paint em.
As for the badges...... DO WHAT YOU LIKE! I dont see it as a "clone", just a SS camaro. I'm not gonna run your VIN if I see your car, and then shun you if it's not what it appears to be.

Well like I said; I'm contemplating. To tell you the truth, unless I'm planning on either taking the car to an official car show or selling it off, I don't think it really matters what the badges say. Also, I would have the car's engine re-tuned, the exhaust changed out including the headers, the air box changed out, and the suspension upgraded before I think about changing the badges. At least then, the car's performance would do the badges justice. But I will absolutely not put any SLP badges on my car whatsoever. In case it does become too much of a problem, I'll just have them taken off again.

I'm not big on cloned cars either.... but I will say that you should make your car do and look like whatever YOU want it too... your the one driving it and your the one that owns it..... do whatever you want.... I have a ss spoiler and a ss hood on mine.... and I did it because I really like how they look...i mean heck,, my car use to be a v6... now it has the lt1 and all the z28 suspension.. so it could be considered a clone,, lol

I was looking around a bit when I came across this website: http://www.speedinc.com
They happen to sell a good selection of parts for 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds, among other cars. That selection does include hoods from different companies, including SLP. Trouble is that SLP has the most expensive SS hood on the website, and I didn't see them selling spoilers. However, the selection from American Sports Car says that they have both the hood and the spoiler. Now I know that you get what you pay for, so I was thinking about saving up for the SLP hood, while discussing the spoiler with my body shop guy. Also, the website's company apparently offers something else that caught my interest, which is their Turn Key Super Car Packages, but that isn't something I'm wanting to pursue until after a few years.

I have an SS and I feel somewhat limited with changing the styling of it. I feel that I can’t change the hood or anything because it won’t be an SS anymore. The sky’s the limit with Z28s I think. I say get some of the retro Z28 badges, or any other cool ones you find, and maybe do this hood http://www.cincyramairhoods.com/chevrolethood/98z.html and maybe an SS spoiler to go with it. That’s what I would do if I had a Z28. Be proud of the Z28 though I wouldn’t swap the badges imo.
