Default What If They Did Racing for a 1/2 Mile?

I can understand how 1/4 is a good median before cars start to level out near top speeds, but what if there was a 1/2 mile drag strip? Would this be too much? The gearing I'm going to assume would play a factor and maybe not as exciting since accerlation wouldn't be as quick compared to 1/8 and 1/4 mile

For 4th gen owners, a lot of them would be switching back to 3.42 gears for 1/2mile drags if they were serious about their racing.

My 4th gen a4 with 3.73s is at about 6100rpm in 3rd across the line in 1/4mile.

Me personally, 1/4mile is exciting enough.

Yes, I do not see that as being exciting. As the high gear ratios would kill take off (especially in autos) and 1/2 mile isn't long enough to get up into crazy speeds like the 1 miles runs do.
