Default Nittor 555r's or Nitto555rII's???

Do people prefer to run the drag radials or the suposed road track tires as I've heard people using both.

dont need to run either now...

The new nitto nt05-r is a more agressive drag radial than the 555r which i ran last season. Theyve been out on the market about a month. Ill be using these for my circle track and road racing for the 2010 season

Treadwear: 00 Tract: B Temp: B

They perform much like the m/t et d/r, but have a stiffer sidewall aswell for road racing.

The only thing is they are only made for 17s through 20s, and they are about $190 a peice.

Yep they are, i ordered them about a week after they came out and now they are sitting on a small table off in the corner of my diningroom to keep warm until april when the races start.

which seem to be quite the compliment possibly over the the 555r's for turnable tracks

The nt05r hasnt really been tested yet by the public being that they just came out at the beginning of january. And most cars that would use this tire arent driving around this time of year.

But with the stats of the tire and with them feeling much softer than the 555r off the wheel at room temperature, it should be interesting to see.

I had a 6-2 record between 8 events at the track in the 09 season on the 555r's, and never finished below 3rd with 20-30 cars in my division. So these tires should compliment my trophy collection nicely

^this, I like. I'm running the M/T ET Street II's, and that's my only complaint is that there's so much flex in the sidewall that they're somewhat unstable on the freeway if you're doing a not so lazy lane change so to say

The only question is, with the stiffer sidewall on the Nitto's, how much forward bite are you giving up on launch? you will be giving up some, because sidewall flex does help grip

With the nt05r my view is, if you're driving a car that has so much power that you cant get the launch you need or desire on this tire then you probably shouldnt be driving it on the street anyway. My maro isnt street driven anymore, but the 555r's gave me a plenty good launch, and now since last season ive switched to zr1 wheels so i went with the new nt05r since they only make them for 17in+ wheels.

But since you would only need 2 of them unlike me where i run them on all 4 corners. Id get 2 nittos and 2 mickeys, test them both at the track and use whichever you like best and the one you dont use at the track use on the street.

I do road racing and drag, but since im more or a road/circle racer i am parshal to the nittos.

nah, i know plenty of cars that roam the streets around here that couldn't get hooked up on any drag radial for that matter. I would like to check those Nitto's out though

Note i said "shouldnt be"

Anyways in about 7 weeks is my first race on these tires (april 10th), so ill be able to give a report on how well they performed. I was running high 19sec laptimes on the 3/8th oval track (elko), so im hoping these tires with the better compound and design plus with me going with wider wheels/tires should put me in the low 19s.
