02 firebird v6 port&polish
hi all, i have an 02 firebird v6, the engine is mostly stock except for cold air intake and exhaust. . I was wondering about port and polish, are there much hp to gain from donig port and polish? A friend would be helping me do it, so money is no concern, I wouldnt pay for it, but I was just wondering what hp is gained from doing port&polish to a 3.8 v6?

I would say the added flow would go to waste without a larger cam. If your going that far why not install a cam as well?

is there really that bad of a lip on the V6 tb? I would say on a stock vehicle the work is not really worth the gains, but if you want numbers, depending on the job and how much is cleared up... you may get up to 3rwhp

I just assumed tb since normally the average person doesn't port and polish their heads in their garage, which is normally professional done with a CNC machine

I was able to get the 3800 heads to flow over 230cfm, up from the lame stock 158cfm - using my FlowQuik flow bench.
I would suggest only cleaning up casting flash and port-matching the gaskets if you don't have access to a flow bench - you can seriously hurt flow numbers if you don;t know what you are doing.
