shouldnt be too hard as long as you know what you are doing... not that any engine swap in a 4th gen f-body is easy per say, lol

it isnt bad,, i did a lt1 into my 3.4l car.. make sure you plan on dropping the motor out from the underneath of the car,,, and another thing,, make sure you get all the engine compartment wiring and computer with the LT4...

wiring and all the electronics would be the main concern... if your picking up a donor car, that would be the best solution

no the wiring and computer doesnt come with it, my concern is the obd differance, would my computer just read what its programmed to read and any extra's that a 96 may have just be left unread?? would a dyno tune solve the prob?

everything should bold right up. I mean, it's basically the same motor. As far as the wiring and all of that, I'm not sure because I think you're right there on the difference between OBD1 and OBD2, but I don't even think you'll have a problem with the wiring to be honest. GMPP sells the LT4 upgrade kit with the heads, intake and LT4 hot cam for all year models of LT1 cars, so I really don't see there being a problem with it. It should all hook right up

yea i would think so too, i mean the motor is mechanical and as far as the extra stuff on it that my 95 doesnt have well then if my computer doesnt read it then it would stand to reason that the mechanics of it would take over and should run fine, although i have heard several stories on it as far as running poorely or throwing a code, i think its worth it, i can get the motor as soon as he gets his 383 built and he said 1500 bucks, less than 40 k on it now.

The mechanicals are all about the same. The motor is OBDII and will definatly throw some codes on your OBDI computer. The easier thing to do rather than swapping out your computer and harness would be convert the LT4 over to OBDI. By that I mean take all your sensors off your old motor swap them to the LT4, maybe block a few things off you dont need and you should be good to go. Your getting a good motor for that price and miles. Great heads and intake plus the block is 4 bolt mains. Good Luck!
