Default Tune with headers?

I have 2000 T/A and will be putting lt pacesetters on it along with ORY. Do I need to have a tune after doing this or will I be ok running the way it is?
Also, O2 sims or can I run with the SES light on until tune? Will this effect how it performs?

Thanks,
Jim

You can drive your car with LTs and no tune.... You wont be getting the most out of it tho

I dyno'd after installing the exact same set up (have a catted TSP Y pipe now, hated the sound of the ORY). I actually lost 12hp, caused a big time lean condition. Some motors go the other way and run rich. I'd def recommend at least a street tune.

If you don't get the O2 sims and extensions you will need to get them tuned out.

i know this is off topic but if you have a sound clip with the ory could you post it up along with a sound clip of the new set up. i'm trying to get ideas and it would be helpful

definitely get a tune as like 99hugger mentioned the A/F can go all out of whack and kill your MPG.... it's not necessarily needed but definetly helps. also you will be fine driving with the SES light on. I drove around for about 1 month with open headers and my SES light on before I got my tune.

and my front O2's were still good and didn't burn up

The real question should be... Do you have any plans in the NEAR future to add a cam or other mods?

If so.. Just wait and get it tuned once. If not then might as well get it tuned

Actually could kill a little more than MPG. I was lean to around 16.0, prob would have eventually done some cylinder damage if i just left it.

Also, I though he was asking if he needed rear 02 sims...

I don't, just a few from the track but the sound is really bad. I could get one of the current set up if you wanted.

Here's a cool site though, lots of sound clips of different exhaust combos... LS1 Sounds - Your Comprehensive Exhaust Resource
